Napeague Citrus is named after a special body of water on the western border of Montauk in Easthampton, NY. Napeague is a small bay of salt water on the thinnest point between Gardiner's Bay and the Atlantic Ocean. It traditionally served as a harbor and an area to harvest resources for the historic indigenous community of Easthampton called the Montaukett.

Napeague means "harbor" in the Montuakett/Shinnecock dialect of the Algonquian Language. It derives from the word for water, "Nippe". Napeague is surrounded by unique dunes and pine forests. The lands around Napeague are mostly parklands and offer a breathtaking view into Montauk's natural history.

The scents of the Napeague Citrus candle are of a clean citrus smell. They are a node to the fresh clean air that sweeps across Napeague and a reminder to our community to be mindful of our effects on the air we breathe

.

The Flower: Napeague Citrus is infused with the flower of the yarrow plant. Yarrow has many uses, from medicinal practices to seasoning foods. Indigenous people here on Long Island have traditionally used yarrow for millennia.

Yarrow not only has practical benefits but it is also utilized in ceremony as well. Like all medicines, it is important to know how to used them before application as overuse can be dangerous.

The Napeague Citrus candle is infused with Yarrow Flowers to remind us to connect with the natural world for our own health and the health of our communities. Too often, nature is overlooked as being essential to healthy living.

From the properties of plants to just breathing clean air, connecting with our mother, the earth, brings us life!
